Well well well I know you are going to find this shocking but I have never done a red carpet recap of the Tony’s. I have found that people have noooooo problem talking about celebrities but get up in arms about their friends or their musical theater heroes. So I’m gonna say it. I am discussing the fashion, the makeup, the styling just like I would on anything other carpet. If they are my friend, your friend: yay but I’m going to be honest. I am the BIGGEST advocate of Broadway and watching my friends perform bring more joy than I can ever put into words. I do love that this year people reallllllllly pulled the fashion way up! Even Vogue did a piece on it. Way to go theater! I’m excited to share- here we go!

Kristen Chenoweth
The lady of the hour. THIS is how you do glamour. BAM!!!! The fit is perfection and gives her tiny little body some curves. I was also living for her wig during the entire show. Now that is how you do a lace front wig ladies. I would have just brushed out the curls a bit more but every look on her looked exquisite.
And those legs. Damn.

Elisabeth Moss
Now I love a floral adorned dress. I think this is a gorgeous! I just wished her hair was up in an effortless undo and she had added more of a hot pink lip. But yay for the colorful dress.
***
AnnaLeigh Ashford
I COULDN’T LOVE THIS COLOR OR DRESS OR FIT MORE! Of course it’s a Zac Posen dress. Yum Yum Yum!!!!
The makeup- I wanted it to be more vibrant. To match a strong color dress I would have pumped up the eye color or lips. A smokey brown eyes or hot orange lips would have been ultra fab. But Bravo on dress lady.

Deborah Messing and Anna Chlumsky
HOW. DID. THIS. HAPPEN.
And this dress isn’t even that great??!?! Wouldn’t you have asked your reading partner what they were going to wear. It just shows to me they skipped rehearsal. Bad on them.

Patina Miller
Ohhhh booooo. This is disappointing. You won a Tony lady! I need for you to come back guns blazing. Hate to say it but Anna Wintour wore it better (at least her’s had some va va boom).
***
Dame Helen Mirren
You win. You always win. You are glamour personified. *Best Dressed List
Pstttt this would also be a gorgeous wedding dress for any age!
***
Vanessa Hudgens
YESSSSS!!!!!!!! Adore the floral print, the halter, the shape….everything! Even her messy braided undo is perfect. Thank you! *Best Dressed List
***
Tommy Tune
I always think Tommy looks dapper. I adore the touches of detail he added and the piped vest. *Best Dressed List
***
Sarah Stiles
Beautiful. That radiant orchid is brilliant on her. If she was going to stand with her clutch I wish it had some extra detail on it or matched her earrings. It seems pointless to me. Style Tip: Ladies I want to look at you not your bag.
***
Bernadette Peters
Everyone please bow down to this body. I mean….yesssssss ma’am! Perfection.
***
Kelli O’Hara
I don’t think Kelly ever looked better! She looks youthful, happy, fit…truly glowing. I think this dress really shows off her fun personality (especially since she danced on stage with delight after she won). I mean- it would be really challenging to find 6 years worth of dresses. Congrats to you beauty! *Best Dressed List
***
Max Von Essex
Max looks perfectly perfect in this custom-made Brooks Brothers tux. Wow. *Best Dressed List
***
Bobby Cannavale and Rose Byrne
Bobby- Handsome.com
Rose- Love the neckline but the zipper?!?!? It’s distracting and I am not a fan of the red shoe or the length of the dress. If it was longer, with a nude shoe and lost the zipper I would buy it myself.
***
Gretchen Mol
This dress would be really gorgeous on someone 50+ years older. It ages her and makes her look tired and not vibrant at all. You can do better.
***
Chita Rivera
You can do whatever you want. Ever. 82 and killing it. #legend
***
Misty Copeland
I die. This girl is such a stunner and spoke so beautifully on the stage. True elegance in everyday. *Best Dressed List
***
Alan Cummings
Here’s the deal- this is authentically him. So for that…I love it! If you are gonna really go for it I would have suggested knee socks. But the fit of the jacket is incredible.
***
Jennifer Lopez
I’m gonna get flack for this but I’m not obsessed with this look. I appreciate her wearing clothes and not going all Grammys last night but this neckline is not flattering on her. She looks much better with a high neck or halter. I wish her lips weren’t so dark too. It just comes across too Fall/Winter for me.
***
Sutton Foster
Just like I said above…this seems too Fall/Winter to me. I love how everyone on Facebook is “ohhhh but this is good for Sutton!” Yes she does look good for her. I think her new tv show suits her. I just wished she had worn a happier color to represent June and Spring.
***
Geneva Carr
This is a gown fit like a glove. I just wished she had dropped the purse. My eye goes to it and instead I want to look at the fit of this breathtaking gown (+ her banging body!!!!!) *Best Dressed List (if you lose the purse)
***
James Monroe Iglehart
Ooookkkkkkkk James. Adore this printed jacket and crimson handkerchief!
***
Angel Reed and Constantine Mouralis
This is the BEST this couple has ever looked. They look like Broadway royalty here.
The lapel pin + the bow tie + the pocket square is a lot of details but you know what….I appreciate him going all out.
And for Angel- Werk

Kiesza
Ummmmmm hello crazy!
There is truly so much going on and I feel like this is Mardi Gras meets American Horror Story meets Origami. Yikes
***
Ruth Wilson
EVERYTHING IS PERFECT!!!!!!!! I’m going to dreammmmm about this color. *Best Dressed List
***
Ashley Tisdale
I would seriously wear this pants suit everyday. Stellar. *Best Dressed List
***
Taylor Schilling
I’m confused. I want to like it but the illusion material just seems off. The back is sooooo weird. The zipper all the way ruins it all. Whhhhhhy didn’t you put the zipper down the back?!?!?! I’d rather keep the back illusion and lose the side and hide the zipper there.
***
Carey Mulligan
US Weekly just broke the news this morning that Cary is pregnant. That makes me like her outfit more but it’s still not my favorite. I like the color and the neckline. The rest is blah.
***
Darren Criss
His look is spot on. I really like the loafer with no socks look. It keeps it youthful but still preppy and classic.
***
Christopher Hanke
My good buddy hosting for Broadway Style Guide. I love a classic tuxedo pant then to edge it up fun hair.
***
Judith Light
Stunning. I gasped when she walked on the stage. She reminds me of Celine Dion in this outfit (and that’s the best compliment I can GIVE!) I would have loved a red pout though.
***
Alex Sharp
Yes sir! You can not go wrong with a white dinner jacket!
***
Soooo there you go! 30 something looks from last night. Let the comments fly. Next week….what’s in my makeup bag! whoop whoop
I screamed EMILY…that is a 100% Loftiss outfit when Ashley Tisdale walked out in the black outfit. I knew that would be one of your favorites. I again let out an EMILY when Judith Light walked out in the gorgeous white jumpsuit…another total Loftiss outfit! I also knew you would love the gorgeous green of AnnaLeigh Ashford’s gown. I agree with you on all the looks!
You agree on everything!?!?!? This has NEVER happened. Nashville put us in sync. 💗
