Hellllllo September! I hope you had a ball for Labor Day and were surrounded by your favorite people and snacks 😉 I get pulled into ‘White after Labor Day’ conversations around this time every year, so I thought this was the perfect post to discuss my stance. First off, Vogue Magazine and Emily Post have both given you the thumbs up for white after Labor Day. That doesn’t mean run around in all white from head to toe! Just like anything, it’s all in moderation. Think “Seasonally Appropriate.” So there is no need to store ALL of your favorite whites. I, personally, will wear my white jeans forever because they are my favorite. Here are some tips to make your whites last all year-long.
***
1. LAYERING
The easiest way to keep your summer favorites is to layer. Drape yourself in long sleeve shirts, boots, scarfs, hats and fur. The more the merrier. The white should be an accent instead of the main focal point.
2. SWITCH OUT TEXTURES
Instead of grabbing your light flowy fabrics I would reach for thicker textures. Wool, cashmere, knit and chambrays are excellent ways to “Fall Up” any look.
3. WEAR OFF- WHITES AND CREAMS.
Off whites and creams ALWAYS look chic.
4. ADD LEATHER
Leather and Fall go hand in hand. You can literally wear all white and throw on some leather and you are ready to roll. I especially love brown leather during this season.
5. ADD LEOPARD
Boots, chunky sweaters, scarfs, vests can make anything look fall. But leopard is a sure-fire way to go from bleh to va va boom! I have more leopard in my closet than black.
DISCLAIMER: I know some areas are Summer all the time (California, Florida, South Georgia). I understand it’s hard to really get into Fall Fashion when it’s 101 degrees. But it’s important to give a nod to the season. Even though you can wear white all year it doesn’t mean you should keep out those white flip-flops. Always think “SEASONALLY APPROPRIATE.” Hope this was helpful. Let me know your thoughts! And as always shoot me ideas you want me to discuss. xxxx
