When I flew into town a year ago to look at apartments, I stumbled upon Riviera Magazine. I fell instantly in love with the sophisticated magazine and thought their eye on the community was dead on. Modern Luxury Magazines are in fashionable cities all over the United States such as Aspen, Atlanta, Hawaii, Miami, Scottsdale and the Hamptons. I was BEYOND thrilled when Associate Editor Kristen Faye Schott asked if I would be interested in being featured. I sat next to Kristen at the South Coast Plaza Fashion Show back in October and we fell instantly in friend love.
I am thrilled to share with you my article in Riviera. I am so proud to be apart of the Orange County community and look forward to all the fashionable events happening later this year.
It’s safe to say a career in fashion was written in the cards for Irvine’s Emily Loftiss (emilyloftiss.com), a former Radio City Rockette (and Georgia native) who relocated from NYC to SoCal last year. Case in point: She once got detention in grammar school for working on her French braid instead of math. Today, this style and beauty blogger (her Loftiss Says has followers around the globe), and brand ambassador for Christian Roth eyewear, is taking our coast by storm. And in March, she’ll serve as a beauty and style host for O.C. Fashion Week. Here, she kicks off her heels—Louboutins, natch—and shares the stylish scoop. – Kristen Schott
Tell us about your O.C. Fashion Week gig.
I’ll be the host of Fashionista Now Boarding, an online program and trend report where I’ll be speaking with local and nation and international stylists to get the buzz leading up to and during the week. I’ll also be announcing and hosting some of the week’s shows.
That sounds like a perfect fit for you.
Yes, I covered seven seasons of New York Fashion Week on the catwalk and behind the scenes with the designers, celebrities and supermodels.
So, what do you think of O.C. fashion?
The first thing I said when I moved here was I needed to revamp my swimsuit collection. In NYC, everyone spends money on coats and boots. Here, everyone lives at the pool.
What trends will stick this year on our shores?
Pastels will be all the rag. Tea length skirts are the new hemline. Wide-leg and tuxedo pants are superhot. And you’ll be seeing tons of shift dresses.
Favorite boutique?
Trina Turk. I adore her vibrant prints and wearable fabrics.
And the local spot you can’t get enough of?
Balboa-the small-town beach vibe is so charming. It’s by far my most favorite place in O.C.
