Hello Monday! I can’t express how much I appreciate all the kind words about me moving to the West Coast. The response has been INSANE!!!! I have the best support group in the world. For “Make It Work” Monday I wanted to share with you a guest article I wrote for the Thomasville Scene Magazine. It came out in December and was perfect for all the holiday parties. But you know me- I feel like you shouldn’t sparkle just during Christmas. IT SHOULD BE YOUR GOAL IN LIFE TO ALWAYS SHINE!!!!!! So I am posting this magazine article late to nudge you to make different choices in your attire. You can choose to be boring or fancy all the time. It is up to you.
It seems when the holidays come, everyone wants to turn into a disco ball of glitter. As a former Radio City Rockette and pageant girl, I COMPLETELY understand the love of sparkles! I have coined that my personal style is “New Year’s Eve” every day. For all you out there that want to punch up the pizazz for the holidays but don’t want to look like you are dressing for Prom, let me give you some tips for adding some sparkle into your life!
BEAUTY
Nails– Sparkle nails are the easiest way to add a bit of glam into your normal look. Add a top coat of glitter and you’ll be amazed at not only your hands but how your spirits will soar!
Eyeliner– Instead of wearing your basic brown or black liner, add a pop of unexpected glitter! Since your eyeliner IS what people look at most, why not add shine behind those eyes?
Cheeks-To finish off your beauty routine, add a touch of shimmer to your cheekbones. It will not only make you look YOUNGER but it will make your skin look flawless.
FASHION
Headpiece– Rhinestone headbands aren’t just for brides. Branch out and dazzle!
Earrings– Ditch your small hoops and go for drama, ladies! Shiny earrings will get more compliments than you can ever imagine. I say bring out the BIG GUNS!
Brooch-I think brooches get a bad rap. I don’t think they are just for older church ladies- I think they are for everyone!!!!! I gave my mom the tiniest brooch that she says makes her outfit sometimes when she needs a touch of sparkle. I suggest investigating bringing brooches into your life! All sizes welcome.
Cocktail rings– If you look at any red carpet you see celebs are forgetting the bracelets and using the cocktail ring to be THE accessory. Throw on the most beautiful, dazzling ring you can find and you are ready for a party!!!!!
Heels– Now be careful with this one. If you pair a great outfit with a shoe that is tacky instead of glamourous…it’s a miss. But a really fabulous sparkly shoe can be beyond perfect. Go for it but head the warning : Socialite vs Jersey Shore.
Jacket- I LOVE a sequined jacket. It screams holiday! A sequined jacket to me is more than a hint but more of a showstopper in a good way. It can be an investment piece that you can wear year after year.
I hope this has your juices flowing. After you have fallen in love with these new changes, keep them in mind. Who says you can’t be sparkly all year round? Make sure you pick up the December issue of “Southern Living” Magazine and check out my latest fashion adventure. As always, I am SO proud to represent Thomasville! Happy Holidays Ya’ll!
