What a whirlwind week! In the last 7 days I finished my 3rd stop on the Old Navy Tour in Calhoun, did a photo shoot in Atlanta, drove 5 hours to Thomasville, gave a fashion presentation at a local boutique and flew to North Carolina to finish the tour. Whew! I’m exhausted!
Since I only had 1 suitcase with me for all of these events I knew I had to improvise. I pulled a gorgeous bright colored maxi dress from Ally B to wear for the event on Thursday. Now what to do with my hair! I knew I wanted to add something festive to add to my look. While visiting my friend Evan I found the perfect necklace to make into a headband. Let me show you how!
THE NECKLACE:
Long. Almost down to the waist. Perfect colors to accentuate my hair and my dress!
HOW TO DO IT:
Hold the long necklace and double it up. Now it should be half the length of the original necklace.
Next place the necklace on the crown of your head. This sat perfectly. I honestly thought about curling my hair and wearing it down. I didn’t even need bobby pins to secure it! But since I was running around dressing models I thought I should be safe and wear my hair up. The beads made it heavy enough to lay flat to my head.
Whichever side you want your side bun- start on the opposite side. Since my part goes right and my bun would be on the right, I began the process on the left. Little by little start twisting and tucking hair over the headband and securing with bobby pins. It doesn’t need to be precise.
I keep checking to make sure that I am covering all the headband on the bottom. But honestly it looks gorgeous really messy or perfectly perfect. I went for an in between look this night.
At this point I just want to make sure the bun is secure. After making sure the all my hair feels sturdy I start messing with a pick to get it exactly like I want.
THE FINAL LOOK:
Here’s how it looks from the back. I love how this style made my highlights really stand out.
I’m so happy with how it turned out. I adore how the hair looks totally a part of the outfit. Your eye doesn’t just go straight to the dress but to the overall look. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Best part of all – since I didn’t have to cut or break the necklace I can wear it as a necklace OR a headband. Two for the price of one. SCORE!

I will write an in-depth post on this fabulous event later this week. I can’t wait to share with you all the many people who helped make this event successful. Check in with me later this week! xoxo, Loftiss
