Hello my lovelies and hello July! The other day my friend, Jana asked me on Twitter “How do you balance your fashion taste when your man likes a T-shirt girl. How do you do causal?” This is a great question. How can you do sassy casual?
I remember when I moved to NYC 9 years ago and thought I was going to be in a version of “Sex and the City” myself. After 2 weeks of roaming around Manhattan I realized 5 inch heels is not realistic. There is a time for a cocktail dress and there is time for sundress. Let me show you how to MAKE IT WORK!

WEEKEND SHOPPING
I think a man’s button up is beyond chic. Grab an oversize button up, tie it up and you are ready! I find it very Cindy Crawford in the 90s sexy!
My fiance’ was getting rid of a few button downs with french cuffs because he was annoyed with always having to wear cufflinks. I took a few just roll up the sleeves and now this is one of my fav go-to causal looks!
OUTDOOR CONCERT
Nothing is easier than throwing on a tank and jean shorts. To make a statement go for an intense color- orange, yellow, pink. And of course anything neon. And when you throw on a belt you pull the look together and create a waist.
The extra step with the belt is everything.
BRUNCH or BBQ
Nothing says summer like white shorts. I love blue and white together because it reminds me of a sailor. Adding a piece of jewelry that incorporates white brightens up your look (and makes you look tan!)
I got this lovely necklace for $10 in Aruba.
FAMILY GET TOGETHER
To add sophistication choose leather shorts. These shorts are from Kohls and work beautifully almost all year long. A touch of leather makes your outfit go from regular to spectacular.
Stop thinking leather is just for Fall/Winter!
SPORTING EVENT
Let’s be honest- what guy do you know that DOESN’T love his girl in a ball cap? A white tank and a ball cap is perfect to cheer on your favorite team. Go for a fun hat color or one with a cool pattern. Don’t forget to pile on the jewels!
Adore my houndstooth hat. Roll Tide!
DATE NIGHT { Movies/Bowling}
A t-shirt dress is THE most comfortable and simple thing to wear. I added a gold belt for flair (and to tie in my accessories) but a light jacket or straw hat would be a great addition too!
This t- shirt dress is from Gap and the belt is an oldie but a goodie that I pull out every year.

A few easy tips to sassify your summer outfit!
Breezy colorful scarf
Chose interesting sandals instead of flip-flops. I wear my Tory Burch ones almost everyday.
All of these outfits above are perfect for a wedge. Day to Night!
A bouncy ponytail always looks chic.
Summer braids are always a happy touch
And of course a bright lip!
What was your favorite outfit? Are you going to rock some of these looks this summer? I’m working on my 4th of July “Make It Work” Monday blog for next week! Get excited!
