I wanted to finish my Do It Yourself Week with a strong finish! Here is a blog post from Cupcakes and Cashmere from last month. I think this is a GENIUS idea; painting a brooch with nailpolish! Check it out…..
Baubled Brooch How-To
As a huge fan of Tom Binns’ neon necklaces, and all of the subsequent DIY interpretations that followed, I wanted to try out the hand-painted-jewel technique for myself (just use regular nail polish). I wasn’t sure I’d have the patience to finish an entire necklace, so I opted to work with a vintage brooch that I picked up at the flea market this past weekend. And as a little twist on the day-glo classic, I chose peacock-inspired jewel tones for my brooch that I plan on pinning onto vintage scarves, bags, and blazer pockets.

{I liked the effect of two coats for a more opaque look}

{Pinned onto a vintage scarf and then wrapped around my bag’s handle}

Tell me- will you try this?!?!? I can’t wait – but of course my creation with have orange on it 🙂 xoxo, Loftiss
