I had the great pleasure again to write a style article for the Thomasville Scene Magazine. I love how I have the freedom to write whatever I want to write about. Since I knew this was the Fashion Issue I thought it was imperative to share my thoughts on Spring Trends. Fashion Week in New York is always so glamourous but that entire week you see trends that will be popular 5 months. It’s always fun to see what is “in” now and go fill your closet with those last items needed to be ready for the season you are in. Here is my take on Spring trends that are hawt…NOW!!!!

SPRING TRENDS TO WEAR NOW!!!!!

We have shed the extra layers of clothes and now we want to celebrate. Spring has sprung my friends! What I love most about Spring and Summer fashion is the extremes. It’s about vibrant colors, exciting prints, tons of accessories and adding anything to your wardrobe that makes you happy. Here’s my list of must haves that will add color and joy into your life!

1. Geometric Print Dress

This print is a show stopper no matter where you go. Office, After Dinner
Drinks, Weekend, Vacations- this print is winner!

2. Romantic Floral Sundress

Throw a bit of romance in your wardrobe by adding a floral dress perfect
for a chill weekend. Feel free to throw a pastel shrug on top if you want
to wear to church or a more conservative occasion.

3. Statement Pants

Make a statement with your pants! Now that colored jeans are all the rage
it’s easy to add colored jeans and dress pants into the mix. GO BOLD!

4. Color blocking

YES! COLOR BLOCKING IS HERE TO STAY!!! You really can’t mess up this
trend. Mix and match bright colors to create a fiesta on your body!

5. All White

For the complete opposite of bright colors- go for all white. There is
something so calming and chic about wearing white from head to toe. Even
though this look is commonly seen at the beach, I invite you to rock this
trend around town. pssst- it will make your tan pop too.

6. Wedge shoes

Who wants to wear high heels when you can wear wedges! Wedges are a staple
for Spring and much more comfortable than any heel. Great for barbecues
and date night!

7. Bright colored Blazers

Trade out your brown and black blazer for a gorgeous color! It will make
you look rested and and the pop of color will invigorate you making you
ready to tackle the world. It’s the new power suit!

8. Denim

Denim will always be a staple for Spring. Play with portions and don’t be
scared to cut off your favorite jeans and make them your new favorite
capris or shorts.

9. Maxi Shirt

A carefree long skirt looks effortless. This trend is flattering for any
age and always a home run.

10. Big Sunglasses

Be your own movie star with huge rimmed sunglasses. Not only are they
functional…they are fabulous.

11. Floppy Hat

Protect your face with a floppy hat. This is another look used a lot at
the beach but is perfect for a lunch date around town. It is functional
and fun!

12. Layering Jewelry

Spring is all about extremes….PILE ON THE JEWELRY!!!! The more the
merrier I say.

13. Adorable Carry-all Tote

Since you are running all around town, why not look stylish while doing
it. Grab yourself a bright colored tote that makes you happy every time
you see it. If you have to lug your life in one big bag, it should at
least be colorful!

14. Personalized Phone Case

My personalized phone case has my initals on it and makes me smile every
time I look down at it. Pump up your style a few notches by adding some
pizzaz to your phone.

HANDS DOWN MY BEST LOOK OF THE NIGHT! I am blown away by this jumpsuit. I have to say I’m a mega fan of this ensemble. I think it’s a chic alternative over a dress. It is easy to dress up or down. I say take a fashion risk next time and go for a jumpsuit! Not only is it more comfortable but you can dance the night away in this. Maybe throw in a kick or two?!?! psttt great for weddings.

WOW! This is the best I’ve EVER seen Jewel. This tan looks incredible on her. Add the lovely peach dress and blonde locks and I’m majorly impressed!

Puffed up do

Ohhhh Kaley you almost got it right. I love the pouf in the front but I would prefer the back to be pinned down. To achieve this pompadour- pull out your teasing comb.!Section off the hair you want to tease. Next pull out the front part of hair and leave alone for the time being. Start from the back of the hair. Back-comb to get height for this look. Section by section back comb and hairspray. After a few sections you will be at the front of your head. Now brush the front section and secure hair over the “rats nest” to make it look effortless. You don’t anyone to see the all hard work you’ve been doing with the teasing. The front section of hair is gently laid over. This look is great with a top knot, french twist, side bun and pony.

This ladies and gentleman is a good blowout. Since blowout bars are all the rage, find a great one near your house for you next event. There’s just something so magical about getting your hair blown out by a professional! Also invest in a great round brush so you can give yourself a great hair night!

I ADORE THIS LOOK! When you are going out for an event think to yourself WHAT AM I SHOWING OFF?!??!! If it’s the dress than downplay the hair and makeup. If it’s the beauty aspect, go wild and pair with a LBD. I love this ultra fabulous metallic dress with a simple ponytail. This look is current and completely fresh! Hair Extensions

This is the wonderful actress who plays Phyllis in my favorite show Y & R. Since I am a fan, I know that Michelle’s real hair is shorter than shoulder length. This is truly some of the best extensions I’ve seen in a while. Over curling and styling extensions make the hair look completely unnatural and like it should be attached to a doll. Just smooth the hair around the face to make it effortless and almost like an after thought. As always I suggest clip ins so you don’t damaged your own hair.

Old Hollywood hair + brooch + red lips

When Carrie walked out to sing “Two Black Cadillac’s” she stunned the audience with her beauty. I am a major fan of the Old Hollywood look. I mean why not wear jewelry to your hair?!? And last but not least the red lips. I loved how Carrie’s entire look was completely matte with glossy red lips. Contouring

GIRLLLLLL THIS IS THE BEST I’VE EVER SEEN YOU LOOK ON THE RED CARPET! I think someone got a new stylist

First I noticed her less frizzy hair- Bravo! Then I was impressed with her contouring. This is something every makeup artist does and normal people are scared to try. First you need a concealer few shades darker than your skin and highlight, a few shades lighter. With the darker color shade either side of the nose and use the highlight down the bridge. This will make your nose look more narrow. Next with the dark concealer, trace your cheekbone from the middle of your ear to 1/2 inch from your mouth. Next trace your jaw line. Use your highlight and go underneath both lines. Last but most importantly BLENDDDDDDDD. This takes practice but done well it’s completely gorgeous! People won’t be able to put their finger on it but you will get compliments like crazy!

Loftiss says “Make It Work” Monday: ANNOUNCING FUN WEDDING NEWS!

Hello all! I am currently high in the sky flying back to Cali after a busy week in Georgia. I had an awesome time judging a dance competition in Atl, choreographing at my studio SGPA & teaching my masterclass at Dance Tallahassee. It makes my heart so happy being in the studio. The dance studio was my second home growing up so I feel so at ease. In between pirouetting I had the best time with my mom finalizing some wedding plans. Great news ya’ll- I have a wedding date!

When we got engaged last year we were not in any rush for making plans. Then job opportunities came our way and we weren’t sure if we were going to stay in New York. Suddenly our big move across the country to California happened! Ahhhh!!!! We decided it would be best to focus on our new life in Newport Beach, get settled and enjoy this special time of being engaged. After this week my church is booked and the plantation for the reception is set! Now time for all the fun small stuff! I am THRILLED about having a year to plan this glorious day!

Now here’s my fun news for Loftiss Says! Since I’m hopping in wedding mode I thought it would be fun to have wedding posts every month! So the first week of every month look for all things wedding right here! It doesn’t matter if you are engaged, newly wed, married for years and years- everyone loves a wedding! From dress, flowers, hair, makeup, decor, ambiance…let’s talk about it! And if you have ANY questions like style, etiquette, time management, how to throw a bridal party -please ask me! Forget pinterest- YOU HAVE ME!!!!!

I hope you are excited! I definitely am! Look for my first wedding post Thursday!

This blog might be my favorite because this is where I tell you how you can find those magical trends from the runway and make them apart of your daily life. And definitely at a more affordable price. From clothes, hair, makeup to nails I’m your “Make It Work” Maven! Let’s get started!

Classic Camel Coat

This is THE most sophisticated look. I bought a camel colored cape last year and still wear it every chance I get. It looks effortless, chic and always timeless.

I love this Rodarte’s look because it incorporates “messy hair,” braids and a bit of sparkle. This is easily do able and completely sexy.

Words can not express how thrilled I am to announce my feature in Southern Living Magazine! The December Issue of Southern Living is like the September Issue to Vogue! I have already received so many texts, calls, emails, Facebook messages etc regarding this post. The best part of all is this is my second time in this magazine. Back in 2007 they did a feature on Nashville and I was in a picture dancing with the Rockettes. Pretty amazing that just 5 years later I created my Style and Beauty blog and have it mentioned in the same national magazine. I LOVE being southern and can’t express my utter joy to be in this iconic magazine!
